During a water crisis state of emergency the mayor shall:

(1) Impose a rate schedule for the purchase of water supplied by the city of Yoncalla with higher rates for higher use. Such rate schedule shall be in writing, subscribed by the mayor and city recorder, and state the effective time and date of such rate schedule.

(2) Impose such other water-saving measures upon the city of Yoncalla as, in the opinion of the mayor, are reasonable and necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of the people of the city of Yoncalla. Any such measures shall be in writing, subscribed by the mayor and city recorder, and state the effective time and date of such measure. The willful violation of any such measure shall be a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.00.

(3) Curtailment Water Rates Implementation.

(a) Minimum meter rates will not change.

(b) Usage Rates.

1 – 1,500 gallons a month

current rate

1,501 – 3,500 gallons a month

$4.00 per 1,000 gallons

3,501 – 5,500 gallons a month

$4.50 per 1,000 gallons

5,501 – 7,500 gallons a month

$5.50 per 1,000 gallons

7,501 and above

$7.00 per 1,000 gallons

(c) For water service to premises outside the city limits, the above charges will increase to be double.

(4) Violation of this section shall be a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.00. (Ord. 418 §§ 2, 4, 2014; Ord. 229 § 3, 1977; Ord. 222 § 3, 1977).
